Our Nursing Assistant Program is designed to provide students with the practical knowledge, clinical skills, and professional foundation needed to perform the role of a Nursing Assistant safely and effectively. Students learn how to address the physical, emotional, and personal needs of each patient or resident while promoting independence, dignity, and self-care.

The program emphasizes essential areas of nursing assistant practice, including effective communication, infection prevention and control, patient safety, personal care, observation and reporting, and basic clinical nursing procedures. Our goal is not only to prepare students for successful completion of the California State Certification Examination, but also to develop competent, compassionate, and dependable Certified Nursing Assistants.

The program consists of two required components:

• 60 hours of classroom theory, completed during the first portion of the program

• 100 hours of supervised clinical training, completed in an approved clinical setting

Together, these components provide a total of 160 training hours, in accordance with the requirements of the California Department of Public Health.

Course content is delivered through classroom lectures, interactive discussions, instructor demonstrations, hands-on skills practice, and supervised clinical experience. Students are introduced to the procedures, techniques, and standards commonly used in long-term care and other healthcare settings.

Student knowledge and competency are evaluated continuously throughout the program through written examinations, classroom participation, skills demonstrations, return demonstrations, and clinical performance evaluations. This comprehensive approach helps ensure that each student is prepared to provide safe, respectful, and high-quality care as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
